Woodlands Breathing

Why I Founded
Woodlands Breathing

I founded Woodlands Breathing after learning wellbeing practices to support my own journey through transitions in life. In the quiet of the forest, I found space to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with myself and nature.  I am based in West Lothian, near Edinburgh - you can work with me locally and globally (online).

Hello, I’m Jeannie

A certified Forest Therapy Guide based in West Lothian, near Edinburgh, Scotland. Growing up in a rural community, I developed a deep connection to trees and the natural world from a young age. These roots have guided me back to a quieter, more intentional way of living, one grounded in nature, balance, and

eco-conscious wellbeing.

After experiencing burnout, from life's transitions and knocks and feeling invisible, I turned to the forest for healing. Through Shinrin Yoku (as forest bathing originated in Japan), mindful walking, and nature-based self-care, I rediscovered calm, clarity, and connection. This led me to train with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) and become part of a global network of forest therapy guides offering nature-based wellbeing experiences in over 65 countries.

Today, I guide nature connection walks, 1-to-1 guided meditation sessions, and eco-wellness experiences throughout Scotland, helping others reconnect with themselves and the land. A good day “at the office” means being outside, walking woodland paths, grounding on mossy earth, laughing with the trees, or simply breathing deeply beside a quiet stream.

Whether you join me in-person in West Lothian or from your own local greenspace online, I’ll hold space for you to slow down, reconnect, and return to your natural rhythm.  As the motto of ANFT goes, "the forest is the therapist, and the guide opens the door" and we'll catch what is offered on the day so each experience is unique.

Pitlochry Special Event

Special Event

Join us for a gentle forest bathing experience in the beautiful gardens near Pitlochry. This guided session offers a chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and experience the garden with fresh awareness.

We will meet at the garden entrance at 10:20am ready to begin our guided experience at 10:30am. Through a series of simple invitations, you will be encouraged to move slowly, notice your surroundings, and reconnect with nature in a calm and supportive environment.

These gardens are home to a remarkable collection of plants from different biomes across the world, offering a rich and varied natural setting while still being easily accessible from the A9 and Pitlochry.

After our guided time together, light refreshments will be served, and your ticket also includes entry to the garden for the rest of the day. You are welcome to continue exploring at your own pace and enjoy more time immersed in this peaceful environment.

There is also a café in the theatre building should you wish to stay longer and relax after the session.

This experience is suitable for anyone looking to slow down, spend mindful time in nature, and discover the garden in a new and restorative way.

Success Stories

Woodland

AL, online

Walking with a trained Forest Therapy guide enables one to experience any patch of
nature in a new and embracing way. Jeannie clearly showed her wider knowledge of nature and
the land which only enhanced the experience. Would certainly recommend.

LM, in person

Jeannie made our staff event easy and enjoyable - we enjoyed a relaxing morning of forest bathing, and it was an enjoyable antidote to our busy working life!

A, in person

I had a wonderful experience of woodlands breathing. The session was very well structured, and Jeannie was a brilliant guide. I really appreciated the organisation
beforehand and also the fact that Jeannie was willing to go ahead despite the small numbers. I left feeling calm, more aware and appreciative of the environment around me. I hope to join again in the future!
